Ferrari, LED, and Spyder

The NEC Live events Arena received the Joys technical treatment at the invitation of Massteknik who were responsible for supplying 105sq metres of LED wall at the 2006 Autosport International event in January 06. Montage II Console for Spyder Control

In 2004 Montage was the best widescreen processing system available. The system comprised a processing frame with input and output cards, and a control desk. The complete system could only be run as one, Montage desk and Montage processor.

With the introduction of Spyder, operation and programming and control was by a PC running Spyder software (Advanced and Basic) . And this is how 95% of shows have been run, using the PC interface to run the Spyder processor. The PC is just an interface and does none of the processing.

Now available is a new hardware console for controlling the Spyder processor called the "Montage II" console. So to avoid any confusion... Spyder is the processor that does all the manipulation of live sources, and can be controlled totally by either a laptop or the Montage II console. The console is incredibly advanced: No more Gaffer tape showing what each button does - LCD displays above each button show its operation, which can be dynamically altered by the Spyder. Each button is lit by LED lighting and hence can be any colour. This can show an operator an immediate status, green for safe, orange for warning, and red for !!!!!. The system has been well designed, and a PC and console working together are backups to each other in case of any hardware failure.
